Dr. Richard Hoffman

Founder and Clinical Director of Christian Counseling Associates (CCA). CCA is a leading faith based group private practice organization with over 60 locations, and a staff of over 100 Christian Counselors in Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, Western New York and West Virginia.

Dr. Hoffman holds the following clinical licenses: Licensed Professional Counselor (Commonwealth of Pennsylvania) Licensed Mental Health Counselor (State of New York), and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor- Supervisor (State of Ohio). In addition, Dr. Hoffman holds the following professional certifications: Board Certified Christian Counselor- International Board of Christian Counselors, Approved Clinical Supervisor- Center for Credentialing and Education, Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (National Board of Certified Counselors) and National Certified Counselor (National Board of Certified Counselors).

Education and Professional History

In addition to 24 years of clinical practice, Dr. Hoffman has over 14 years of academic experience having lectured in the field of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences from 2002 to 2014 in various faculty appointments including, the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, Duquesne University, and the Community College of Westmoreland County. He has been an evaluator in the Family Court Systems in Pennsylvania for over 15 years, where he has been certified as an expert psychological witness providing consultation in forensic court cases. Most recently, Dr. Hoffman currently lectures internationally as he maintains an adjunct professor position at United Methodist University, Bishop Innis Graduate School of Theology, in Monrovia, Liberia.

Dr. Hoffman graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and in 1999, obtained a Master’s degree in Counseling from California University of Pennsylvania. He earned his Doctorate in Counseling from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2006.

Professional Practice

Dr. Hoffman provides counseling at CCA’s Main office in Greensburg, PA. He is available to provide court ordered psychological evaluations, as well as any psychological consultation for church or private organizations. Dr. Hoffman is also available for speaking engagements, workshops and seminars.

Specialty areas include but are not limited to treating clinical depression, generalized anxiety, specific phobias, complex trauma, and obsessive compulsive disorders. Dr. Hoffman also treats eating disorders and addictive behaviors of all kinds including substance abuse and dependency. He is an expert in Group Therapy and Marital and Family Therapy.

Dr. Hoffman is an expert in clinical supervision and the mentoring and training of counselors. For the staff of CCA, Dr. Hoffman presents the best of clinical skills and techniques, while integrating a Christian foundation into his dynamic training process. His clinical supervision approach enables the CCA Staff to apply clinical counseling to a wide range of psychological problems, while integrating a Christian foundation into a bio-psycho-social-spiritual treatment process.

Dr. Hoffman lives in Greensburg with his wife, Renaye and their grown family of 24 years. They are members of Charter Oak Church and serve as volunteers in the youth and small group ministries.
